8 Websites That Give You Tips On Job Interview Questions and Answers
Sometimes, the most matter of fact questions can knock you off kilter. The tell me about yourself' interview ice-breaker makes the most difficult interview questions' list quite often. A smart off the cuff answer works, but it works better if you have the answer prepared.
If preparation is the key, browse through these eight interview websites and bulletproof your job search with the wealth of technical and non-technical interview questions and answers listed there.
CareerCup
Careercup is a resource of tech interview questions from companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and a lot of others. The site was started in 2005, so to date the bank of questions is 3,000 strong. You can trawl through the questions by using the dropdown for Companies, Job Titles, and Topics. The answers and solutions are supplied by the community of readers. You can add your own interview questions and also engage with others in the chat room.
Glassdoor
We have featured this free career website and community before but it was as a salary comparison tool. Since then, the site has come out of beta and developed into a deeper microscope for the job market with company reviews, salary comparisons, and interview tips. The site lists interview questions across the spectrum of job listings from sales to technology. The site is well organized with each company getting a page that starts with an overview and hives off into details like interview difficulty rating, questions asked, and other information like background checks, interview schedules, etc. It's definitely is one of the better job information sites out there.
Monster
The go-to site for career and job listing information has a well covered career advice section with a section devoted to interviewing. Check out all the articles listed under The Tough Questions. A few hints from How to Answer Five Difficult Interview Questions and 100 Potential Interview Questions should help you ace any interview.
Job Search (About.com)
The wide variety of guides on About.com is always more than useful. It's the same with the roll of interview questions and best answers for each of them. Follow all the links and check them out.
Management Consulting Case Interviews
We move away from all the general and technical interview websites with this one. As the name says, the site is all about in-depth interview questions for those who are interested in getting into management consulting. The case studies are arranged by type, industry, and consulting firm.
Xor Swap
The technical interview website is simple in looks but its list of actual interview questions asked by IT companies could be more than useful. Each question also has the answer and you can add your own. Filter the questions against the company using the list of companies on the right.
Geek Interview
The site of course, has a nicely laid out interview preparation section with a lot of questions for the software programmer or coder. The site leans towards the Indian IT scene but the questions should be universal for an IT interview. The site also has tutorials on technology, tech articles, career related articles, job postings, certification questions and guides, online tests and other study aids.
Common Interview
The website with a barebones search engine-like interface is actually a dynamic, community driven collection of most common general purpose and technical interview questions. The search box gave me a bunch of unrelated results (the Advanced Search targets them better), so I guess it's better to use the menu on the top. Not all questions have answers but the collection of interview questions and answers is quite large.
Armed with the best answers, you can further polish your interview tackling skills with 5 Sites with Job Interview Tips to Help You Ace Your Interview or take the visual route with 5 Video Channels for Learning Basic Job Interview Skills. As you prepare for the next blind date' with the job board, let us know about the toughest interview question you ever had to counter.

How To Find Out If Your Email Address Was Leaked Through Gawker’s Database
If you are an active participant on any of Gawker's websites then you'll probably have changed your password by now (hint: do it). However, if you're not sure whether you've contributed any comments and would like to know for sure then you can check your email against the list to get the answer you need. You can then take appropriate action if you've fallen foul to the leak.
Why Such A Big Deal?
There's a reason you're strongly encouraged to use different passwords for different services. Had you signed up to Gawker's commenting system with your usual personal email address and used the same password you use to log into said email address then your email and password combination is freely available for all to see.
It has emerged since last month's attacks that a considerable amount of .gov, .edu and .mil (US military) email addresses were included in the leaked database. If these individuals had used the same password for their email login then government, education and military email addresses would be potentially compromised.
According to the hackers 2,650 used "password" or "qwerty" as a password including one .gov address, three .mil addresses and 52 from .edu addresses.
This is a prime example of how using a variety of passwords can really save your bacon. Should someone gain access to your email account then personal information like online banking or web hosting details is at the mercy of the intruder.
Ok, I'm Sufficiently Scared
Good, so you'll probably want to check if you're on the list. As the whole network of sites used the same shared commenting system, every Gawker site was affected. Many of these sites are popular and renowned for breaking news, reviews and their quirky nature.
Outlets include Lifehacker, Gawker (main site), Gizmodo, Kotaku, Fleshbot, io9, Jalopnik, Jezebel and Deadspin. If you have ever made a comment and used your own valid email address then you really should have changed your Gawker password, and any other services that use the same password.
Step 1
To check whether you've been affected you'll first need to change your email address into an MD5 hash, which you can do here. Simply enter your email in full, click md5 and copy the result to your clipboard.
Step 2
With your MD5 saved, go here and click Show Options. From the first drop-down box select MD5 and in the text field paste your MD5 hash and click Apply Filter.
If nothing appears then you're home dry, your account has not been compromised and you can sleep easy. If you do see a matching row but you've changed your password already – no worries, you acted fast.
If you see a matching row and have not changed your password then you'll want to change your Gawker password and any other passwords that match.
If you need a bit of help coming up with a couple of passwords, we've got an article covering that but please be careful and don't use too many shared passwords.
Did you get stung by Gawkergate? Learned your lesson from shared passwords? Still using "password" as your password? Tell us all about it in the comments below.

How To Reface Your Facebook Profile Using FB Photo Magic
It's said that Alexandre Oudin - a French artist - was the first one who explored the possibilities of creatively "refacing" the new profile page. Since then, many people have come up with their own version of a personalized profile page. As the refacing process required some skills in photo editing and the tenacity to find the perfect arrangement, most of us couldn't (or wouldn't) join in the craze. But that was in the past. Today, everything can be done easily in a few steps with the help of an online tool called FB Photo Magic.
Let's Create Some Magic
If you want to join all the cool kids on Facebook, why don't you try to reface your own profile page? Go to the FB Photo Magic website and click the "Start" button.
Click "Choose File" to pick the picture that you want to upload and then click "Upload Photo". Based on my experiment, it's advisable to pre-process the photo prior to uploading it. Not only will you get the portion of the image that you want, but you will also get a smaller size compared to the original picture.
The first thing that you will notice after the uploading process is the drop down list of "Text lines". This list asks you to choose one of the numbers according to how many lines there are on your profile page.
To get the figure, go to your profile page and count the lines under your name next to your profile picture.
Then you can set the image template. You can resize the box and move it around. The parts of the picture under the white boxes are the ones that will show up on your profile page. Adjust the boxes' position so that they will overlay portions of the image that you want to show.
Click the "Save" button at the top right corner of the page, then continue by clicking "Upload to Facebook".
A confirmation window will open, asking you to allow FB Photo Magic to access your Facebook account.
When everything is done, you'll see the success message along with quick instructions on how to set everything up.
Completing The Process
Now we are a few steps away before we finish the refacing process. To complete the journey, log into your Facebook account and go to the "Photos" page by clicking on the link in the sidebar under the profile picture. Then open the FB Photo Magic album.
Inside the album, you will see a set of "puzzle" photos that you've just created. Click on the last picture to open it. This last picture is the largest picture on the left that will be your profile picture.
Go to the lower part of the photo page and click on the link "Make Profile Picture".
Then click "Okay" in the confirmation window.
And you're done.
Just for the sake of the experiment, I created another set of profile pictures using my daughter's photo, activated it, and decided to keep the result (she's a lot more photogenic than I!)
An Alternative And Few Notes
FB Photo Magic is not the only application that you can use to reface your Facebook profile page. Another alternative that I found is Schweppes Profile App. The working process is similar to FB Photo Magic. However, during my experiment, I was always stuck on the "uploading to Facebook" step. But feel free to try it, maybe you'll have better luck.
Please note that even though I used FB Photo Magic with several images without any problem, one of the profile images that I got was distorted. So if you get distorted image, you could repeat the process or use alternative images. Use the "Preview" feature before uploading the result to Facebook.
Since the images shown on your profile page are actually images tagged with your name, it's possible that the set that you created is replaced by more recent set of images also tagged with your name. If this happens, you could hover above the images that you don't want and click on the "X" to close them. Doing this will not erase the images. You just keep them off your profile page.
I found that refacing my Facebook profile page is fun. You should try it yourself and enjoy the time when your friends beg you to tell them how to do it!

Four Cheers Five Victor Borge
The Comedian of the Keyboard, also known as The Unmelancholy Dane, exited the earthly stage December 23rd, 2000. Victor Borge, the irrepressible musical humorist, didn't quite make it into the true third millennium, but he lived almost 92 very full years and performed more than a 100 nights a year right up until the spotlight winked out.
Borge left the world a triple legacy. Born in Copenhagen to a family of musicians, Borge became a fine pianist and conductor. Too, he was that rare comedian who never used foul language and never made fun of anyone. "The smile is the shortest distance between two people," he observed. Most astonishingly, he became a genius in his second language English, which he learned by spending day after day in movie theaters.
Many years ago, Victor Borge created the game of inflationary language. Since prices keep going up, he reasoned, why shouldn't language go up too? In English, there are words that contain the sounds of numbers, such as "wonder" (one), "before" (four) and "decorate" (eight). If we inflate each sound by one number, we come up with a string of puns "twoder," "befive" and "decornine."
Here is a story based on Borge's idea. This tale invites you to read and hear inflationary language in all its inflated wonder oops, make that "twoder" and to remember the linguistically pyrotechnic genius of The Clown Prince of Denmark.
JACK AND THE TWODERFUL BEANS
Twice upon a time there lived a boy named Jack in the twoderful land of Califivenia. Two day Jack, a double-minded lad, decided three go fifth three seek his fivetune.
After making sure that Jack nine a sandwich and drank some Eight-Up, his mother elevenderly said, "Threedeloo, threedeloo. Try three be back by next Threesday." Then she cheered, "Three, five, seven, nine. Who do we apprecinine? Jack, Jack, yay!"
Jack set fifth and soon met a man wearing a four-piece suit and a threepee. Fifthrightly Jack asked the man, "I'm a Califivenian. Are you two three?"
"Cerelevenly," replied the man, offiving the high six. "Anytwo five elevennis?"
"Not threeday," answered Jack inelevently. "But can you help me three locnine my fivetune?"
"Sure," said the man. "Let me sell you these twoderful beans."
Jack's inthreeition told him that the man was a three-faced triple-crosser. Elevensely Jack shouted, "I'm not behind the nine ball. I'm a college gradunine, and I know what rights our fivefathers crenined in the Constithreetion. Now let's get down three baseven about these beans."
The man tripled over with laughter. "Now hold on a third," he responded. "There's no need three make such a three-do about these beans. If you twot, I'll give them three you."
Well, there's no need three elabornine on the rest of the tale. Jack oned in on the giant and two the battle for the golden eggs. His mother and he lived happily fivever after and so on, and so on, and so fifth.

Jack LaLanne RIP: 10 Facts About Jack LaLanne You Didn't Know
The fitness guru Jack LaLanne has died. Now, many of you knew him only as an old man (albeit with a younger man's trim physique) hawking his juicer, but Jack was a true pioneer in fitness and nutrition.
In tribute to "The Godfather of Fitness," here are Neatorama's 10 Facts About Jack LaLanne You Didn't Know:
The Jack LaLanne Show
In 1951, when Richard Simmons was still in diapers and Jane Fonda was but a young lass, Jack started his own TV exercise show - the first fitness program ever televised, actually - that ended up running for 34 years. When it first aired, critics gave it 6 weeks tops. He even had to buy air time, because the studio didn't believe anyone would watch an exercise show.
Here's the first Jack LaLanne Show:
[YouTube clip]
What's With the Ballet Slippers?
As you can see in the video clip above, Jack wore ballet slippers. Why? His blog explains:
In those days tennis shoes were not popular, and only used to play tennis inMost show business people and Hand Balancers wore ballet slippers, and Jack being a Hand Balancer, that was what he wore!
Sugar-Addicted Juvenile Delinquent
Jack LaLanne was a self-described sugarholic kid, hooked on junk food:
"As a kid," he flatly states, "I was a sugarholic and a junk food junkie! It made me weak and it made me mean. It made me so sick I had boils, pimples and suffered from nearsightedness. Little girls used to beat me up. My mom prayed the Church prayed."
He blamed his bad diet for attacking his brother with an axe and setting the family house on fire. At 15, his mother took him to see a talk by nutritionist Paul Bragg, and Jack reformed his eating habit and became interested in fitness.
America's First Health Club
Jack LaLanne opened the country's first modern health club in Oakland, California, in 1936 at the tender age of 21. He worked with a blacksmith to create many of the weight machines that you see in your neighborhood gym today.
Jack LaLanne vs The Medical Community
After he opened his health club, LaLanne got a lot of heat ... from doctors of all people!
"People thought I was a charlatan and a nut," he said in a 2005 interview. "The doctors were against me they said that working out with weights would give people everything from heart attacks to hemorrhoids; that women would look like men." LaLanne prevailed.
How Many Push Ups Can You Do?
Jack could do 1,033 push-ups. In 23 minutes. At the age of 42. Now, how about you?
Just a Little Swim
Every year, Jack LaLanne went for a little swim on his birthday. For his 70th birthday, he swam a mile and a half through the Long Beach Harbor while towing a flotilla of 70 boats. With his hands and feet shackled, no less.
We could talk about Jack's other fantastic feats of strength and endurance (he famously swam from Alcatraz to the San Francisco shore. Handcuffed. Shackled. And towing a 1,000-pound boat. You know the drill by now), but we'd be here all night.
Warming Up is for Sissies
You'd think that a fitness expert would tell you to warm up before a vigorous exercise, but not Jack LaLanne. No, Sirree! From an interview with Outside Magazine:
"Now, you listen to some of these so-called sports-medicine experts today--shit! It's just shtick. It's just something else to sell. Warming up," he scoffed, adjusting a red ascot fitted neatly into his jumpsuit, "warming up is the biggest bunch of horseshit I've ever heard in my life. Fifteen minutes to warm up! Does a lion warm up when he's hungry? 'Uh-oh, here comes an antelope. Better warm up.' No! He just goes out and eats the sucker. You gotta get the blood circulating, but shit, does the lion cool down? No, he eats the sucker and goes to sleep. And that," he concluded, folding his arms into a variation of the pose, "is the truth."
Facenastics!
Got a sagging face? Obviously you have never seen Jack LaLanne's Facenastics. That's right. He's got an exercise program for your face:
I Can't Die. It Would Ruin My Image.
And lastly, one of my favorite Jack LaLanne quotes (or "LaLanneisms," as he called it). When he was asked about the difference in public attitude between today and when he first opened his gym decades ago, Jack said: "Then I was a crackpot and a charlatan, today I am an authority and believe me I can't die, it would ruin my image."
Jack LaLanne, RIP.

The Undead Debt Collector
Here's a fascinating story of how a woman who died in 1995 has been "signing" affidavits for the debt-collection industry:
Martha Kunkle has come back to life.
She died in 1995. Yet her signature later appeared on thousands of affidavits submitted by one of the nation's largest debt collectors, Portfolio Recovery Associates Inc., in lawsuits filed against borrowers.
Some regulators complain that the use of Ms. Kunkle's name reflects an epidemic of mass-produced, sloppy and inaccurate documentation in the debt-collection industry. Lawsuits have surged as more borrowers fall behind on payments and collection firms turn to courts to get what they are owed.
After being sued for fraud, Portfolio Recovery Associates decided in early 2008 that any documents bearing Ms. Kunkle's name had "defects" and shouldn't be used when trying to collect debts, a company spokeswoman said.

What's Your Sign? Nope. Try Again.
The ancient Babylonians based zodiac signs on the constellation the sun was "in" on the day a person was born. During the ensuing millenniums, the moon's gravitational pull has made the Earth "wobble" around its axis, creating about a one-month bump in the stars' alignment
Indeed, most horoscope readers who consider themselves Pisces are actually Aquarians. So instead of being sensitive, humane and idealistic, they actually are friendly, loyal and inventive. Or not.
At the link, the following new alignments are offered:
Astrology buffs should be using these dates, reflecting where the stars currently are aligned:
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.

Snow Present in 49 of the 50 U.S. States
After big snow and ice events in the Southeast, Plains, and Midwest this week, 49 out of the 50 states currently have snow on the ground – yes, even Hawaii, where snow falls in Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea all winter.
Thanks a lot, Florida. We almost had a perfect record. But you just had to go and be different, didn't ya?

Stress : Conditions for Calmness
Physical Comfort
Pay attention to how your body feels and try to make it as comfortable as possible. Is your clothing comfortable? Is the temperature ok? Is your chair comfortable? Try to make changes to your environment to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
Fresh Air
Getting fresh air is a very important condition for calmness. This is one reason why the mountains or the beach are more relaxing than the city. Try opening a window to get a little fresh air.
Silence
People always try to find a quiet place to relax. As you go through your day, you are bombarded with noises. Traffic, people talking, babies crying, electronic equipment, radios and televisions all contribute to the noise pollution that can cause unnecessary stress. Eliminating noise from your daily life can help make you a calmer person. One way to do this is with noise canceling headphones or earplugs.
Stimulants
Caffeine, nicotine, sugar and other drugs all act as stimulants on the human body. You will never be able to fully relax if you are charged up with sugar and caffeine. Try switching to water, herbal tea or a diet caffeine-free soda.

CDCAN REPORT #010-2011: GOVERNOR WILL PROPOSE OVER $12.5 IN CUTS - OVER $750 MILLION CUTS TO DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES; $1.7 BILLION TO MEDI-CAL; $1.5 BILLION TO CALWORKS AND MORE
~Jane

Hi all,
If you and/or someone you know (or everyone you know!) writes a letter to the governors office and your legislators, perhaps we could at least minimize some of the cuts that are occurring to families of children with special needs. These families are all ready struggling as there were cuts the past few years but this is getting to the point were some families are going to end up on the streets, or giving up their children as the cuts get deeper and deeper and more programs some single parents will find themselves in the position of having no one to watch their special needs child so that they can work to support their family. As a group parents of children with special needs are loud enough to "make some noise" so lets get heard!!!

Staff,
This will be a difficult year. It is important that we keep our "families" informed. Please encourage parents to write letters and contact their representatives before services are cut. They should tell reps what these cuts will mean to their children's lives.

Governor Jerry Brown is calling for over $12.5 billion in massive permanent reductions to a wide range of state funded programs, including regional centers, In-Home Supportive Services,
CalWORKs,
Medi-Cal, SSI/SSP, mental health and more.
He will also propose placing on a special election ballot in June for voter approval a five year
extension of over $8 billion in temporary tax increases set to expire this year that were enacted in February 2009 as part of the 2009-2010 State Budget passed four months early.
The Governor will propose this morning over $12.5 billion in spending cuts including over $750 million in cuts to developmental services (regional centers and developmental centers), $1.5 billion cuts to
CalWORKS, the state's "welfare to work" program that includes many parents and children with special needs, $1.7 billion in reductions to
Medi-Cal.
No details were provided in the press statement.
In addition the Governor will propose a cut of about 8% to state employee pay.
In a press statement issued this morning, Governor Brown said that the spending cuts
"…will be painful, requiring sacrifice from every sector of the state, but we have no choice. For 10 years, we've had budget gimmicks and tricks that pushed us deep into debt. We must now return California to fiscal responsibility and get our state on the road to economic recovery and job growth."
The Governor proposed spending reductions both for the current budget now in place – referred to as "mid-year" cuts that the Legislature would need to take action on immediately in the next few weeks – and also proposed cuts and other measures to be enacted sometime during the 2011-2012 State budget year that begins July 1, 2011.
All of the Governor's proposals require approval of the Legislature.
More details when the Governor begins his press conference.

Stress : When Something is Going Wrong
Determine the Worst-Case Scenario
Knowing the worst possible outcome will help put things in perspective. Are you going make your boss disappointed or lose your job? Are you going to get a B- on a project or flunk out of school?
Accept It
Once you have determined the worst-case scenario, you need to mentally accept it. Assume that it is going to happen. If you are resigned to the fact that the worst outcome is going to come true, then you can stop worrying about that possibility. After you accept the situation, you can move on to the next step.
Improve the Worst-Case Scenario
Now that you are free from worrying about the outcome, you can devote your full attention toward improving it. Try to find ways to reduce the negative effects of the outcome. You may not be able to turn a losing situation into a winning situation, but you might be able to make it neutral or at the very least, less bad.
